This is your opportunity to discuss issues, have your say, start discussions
with other members. We hope to see your messages on anything and everything -
pensions, post offices, buses, former colleagues - it's an open book!
However,
to get things going, what are your thoughts about Blair's successor? Don't
forget to vote tomorrow! Is our climate really changing? Should the July
terrorists have been picked off before they had the opportunity to act?

OK - it worked this time....HOORAY!
So here's what I tried to say before.... I'm really pleased that Unite has set up this 'blog'. I now live in Italy and do at times miss the comradeship that I had as a BT person. Now this may give me the opportunity to chat with others who have a similar work background to me and to reminisce and look to the future together. I have a blog of my own and have just set up my own web site with it's own forum. Us 'wrinklies' do really need to keep up with the times where possible I guess. Hi Carole
Good to hear from you and so glad you have now managed to get your message on. I hope others will be inspired to respond to provide the kind of support/comradeship you are looking for. Many of today's pensioners do choose to live abroad - indeed we have members all over the world. Whilst the prospect of living in a more pleasant climate and living permanently in a country that we perhaps only holidayed in whilst working is tempting, there is no doubt that some things are missed! So it would be interesting to hear your views. All the best Eve Gracey Re: Re: Re: Re: Welcome to the new blog!

Eve,
Thank you so much for your quick reply and your interest. But I must confess to being somewhat confused about the set up on this 'blog'. I had expected to find a 'Forum' with various topics that could be seen and a built-in 'Post a Reply' system. I always thought a blog was a personal 'log' (diary) of an individual's life on which visitors/readers could write a comment on the various entries.(?) I'm sorry, but I can't figure out where I could put any personal views on retiring to/living abroad following retirement.... SO - HELP PLEASE! CaroleB Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Welcome to the new blog!

Hi Carole
I am looking into possible reasons why you cannot enter a blog. Roger Turner Manchester Casino. Browns decision - Good or Bad?

Blair's successor has finally got the crown that he has desired for so long. He can now rule with the dictatorial smugness that he has displayed for so long whilst in the office of Chancellor. One of his first edicts has been to over rule Blairs casino desires for Manchester!
PS. - Can you tell... I don't like polititians ! ! ! The site that was set asside for the project would have brought many much needed jobs to a deprived area. Now the hopes of employment for these people have dashed. I thought Labour were pro employment for the masses! Maybe gambling isn't such an honourable business, but at least it would have meant paid work for a number of local people, and thus enabling them to hold their heads up high again. Let's hope the new president has some useful ideas to replace his 'dead in the water' predecessors plan. Jim (A non gambler from Manchester) |
